Trinidad3 Steps Into ‘Made in USA’ Biker Jeans

Trinidad3 unveiled its first biker jean, the Loyal jean, with help from a famous friend.

Frankie Loyal, known for his role as Hank “El Tranq’” Loza on the FX television series “Mayans M.C.” partnered with the “Made in LA” brand to design the 14 oz. raw American selvedge denim jean.

The prototype for the jean, which was worn by Loyal during the fifth and final season of the crime drama, “endured vigorous off-camera testing by the actor and motorcyclist known for his charity work within the Southern California biker community,” the brand stated.

Loyal, who rides a  2003 Harley-Davidson Road King Anniversary Special, said he put in 20,000 miles wearing one pair to see how they hold up.

“The Loyal jean holds proper when riding. You can feel the durability and comfort. It’s the aesthetic and fit I’ve always been searching for,” Loyal said.

Though the motorcycle jean is a departure from Trindiad3’s popular collection of versatile athletic fit jeans and shorts, the Loyal complements the brand’s mission to support “Made in U.S” manufacturing.

The jean is made with selvedge denim from Louisiana-based Vidalia Mills—one of two remaining denim mills in the U.S. and the only one running Draper X3 vintage shuttle looms. The garment was then cut, sewn and finished in Los Angeles.

Trinidad Garcia III, founder of Trindad3, said the Loyal jean is an example of how the brand’s efforts to bring back the U.S. tradition of making jeans. “The blue jean is a part of American history,” he said. “We are one of its largest consumers in the world, but very few jeans are made in the United States.”

Garcia also serves as Vidalia Mills’ senior designer.

“Trinidad3 is committed to spearheading the return of American-made jeans to the nation and it has been an honor to work with Frankie in developing a fit made for the community that made it a staple in our culture 70 years ago,” he continued.

The jeans retail for $250. It is available now on Triniddad3’s website for pre-order and in-store at Bartel’s Harley-Davidson in Marina Del Rey, Calif.

Last weekend, the brand celebrated the launch at the store with a Q&A discussion with Loyal and Garcia, autograph signings, live music, food, and a raffle in support of Sabot Foundation, a nonprofit that supports veterans and their families in their transition to civilian life.
