DL1961 Collaborates with Celebrity-Favorite Maternity Brand Bumpsuit

Maternity denim is getting a new look this spring.

On Wednesday, premium denim brand DL1961 bowed a collection of maternity jeans and T-shirts with Bumpsuit, a celebrity-favorite maternity and motherhood brand.

The collection reflects the brands’ shared commitment to thoughtful design and effortless wearability by combining DL1961’s innovative denim fabrics and popular fits with Bumpsuit’s approach to modern maternity style.

“Our customer has been asking for more denim, so partnering with one of the best names in the industry felt like a very natural fit. We wanted the collection to prioritize comfort, versatility, and longevity without compromising on style,” Bumpsuit founder Nicole Trunfio told SJ Denim.

“It was important that every piece feel elevated and fashion-forward while still supporting the changing body during pregnancy. We focused on thoughtful construction, premium fabrication, flattering fits and styles that women would continue reaching for long after pregnancy, not just during those nine months,” she added.

Highlights in the collection include the Addison Overshirt, a snap-button style with a spread collar and the off-white Billie Overall with adjustable straps, side seam shanks at the waist and an apron chest pocket.

The off-white Taylor Relaxed Barrel features khaki stitching, a clean hem, a tie front and an adjustable waistline, make it versatile for pregnancy, postpartum and beyond. The blue Hepburn Wide Leg and mid-blue Miro Barrel have stretch paneled pockets for comfort through every trimester. Jeans sizes range from 23 to 34.

DL Aura, DL1961’s lightweight denim made with certified cotton and Tencel lyocell, and comfort-stretch denim are used throughout the denim range.

The collection also offers the Mama Tee, a lightweight cotton jersey tee available in gray and ivory, and the Girlfriend Tee, a white single knit jersey with a structured peplum silhouette.

Creating pieces that make women feel comfortable and confident through every stage of motherhood has always been at the core of Bumpsuit. The Australian brand’s high stretch one-pieces and dresses have become a go-to for stylish moms including Sophie Turner, Emily Ratajkowski and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

The brand has also explored denim, though Trunfio noted that the assortment has remained intentionally limited, relying primarily on tie adjustments rather than stretch fabrics or elastic construction. “While our customer responded well to the silhouettes, we knew there was an opportunity to expand the category with a true denim expert,” she said.

“With DL1961, we were able to rethink the functionality and fit of maternity denim in a much more refined way. We incorporated elastic and adaptive design elements thoughtfully and aesthetically, so the pieces remain flattering and comfortable during pregnancy while still feeling like premium fashion denim that can be worn postpartum and beyond,” she added. “The collaboration allowed us to create styles that feel both innovative and timeless.”

Despite jeans being a wardrobe staple, Trunfio noted how most maternity denim on the market is designed with a very short-term mindset. Brands often rely on bulky “toddler-style” waistbands or obvious maternity construction that only works during pregnancy and feels limiting afterward.

“We felt there was an opportunity to approach maternity denim in a more thoughtful and design-forward way, creating pieces that evolve with the body and can still be worn well beyond pregnancy. For us, it was important that the styles feel elevated, modern, and aesthetically aligned with the rest of a woman’s wardrobe, rather than feeling like a temporary solution,” she said.

Although maternity denim can be challenging, Trunfio said the partnership with DL1961 felt natural “because we both care about elevated design, innovation and ease”

“We wanted this collection to feel effortless with denim that moves with you, feels incredibly soft on the body, and still delivers the kind of look you actually want to wear every day,” she added.

The Bumpsuit x DL1961 collection retails for $59-$249. It is available on both brands’ websites and through Nuuly, Revolve, Shopbop and Rent the Runway.
