Practical, Seasonless Colors Top Pantone’s Forecast for NYFW

The colors in Pantone’s New York Fashion Week forecast reflect the city’s direct attitude.

On Friday, the global color authority released its Fall/Winter 2024-2025 palette for the fashion event comprised of 10 standout colors and five new core classics. Described as “fun but also functional” and “essential but not un-exciting,” the colors are self-assured and exude a “no muss, no fuss demeanor,” Pantone said.

A mix of natural pigments, warm tones and neutrals, the colors are as practical as they are connected to consumers’ deepening concern for the environment.

Other standouts are Golden Palm, an opulent yellow-green; Aventurine, a rich mineral-based green-blue; Fern, a leafy green; Italian Plum, a deep and “magical” purple; Moonstruck, a shadowy gray; Winter Sky, a cooling blue; and Lucent White, an optically bright white.

Pantone’s new classics include White Swan, a “soft and downy white full of grace” and Dark Gull Gray, a solid and dense hue. Baritone Blue, a deep blue, provides richness while Raw Umber and Buckhorn Brown provide grounding qualities.

The colors also underscore slowing trend cycles and the rise of conscious consumption. Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, said the colors provide longevity and seasonless style.

“Functional and adaptable, they are reliable and robust, servicing our increasingly hybridized style of living, providing a strong chromatic foundation and at the same time delivering playful and energetic accents for moments of magic,” she said.
