After debuting in a croc-textured patent leather, one of New Balance’s latest lifestyle sneakers is getting a more breathable material makeup for warmer weather.
The New Balance Gator Run will soon introduce a mesh base to its construction, with two styles set to be released Wednesday. Both colorways are energized with bright shades; one in a yellow Apollo Gold/Black and another in Dry Lime/Mosaic Green.
Each pair features a mesh base supported by suede structural overlays, nylon tongues and the Gator Run’s signature toothy outsole. It’s all presented in a low-profile build inspired by the Boston-based sportswear company’s 1982 Gator turf shoe.

Sometimes the most memorable details come from revisiting the past and looking at solutions through a new lens,” Taylor Canby, director of design at New Balance, said in a January press release revealing the model.
New Balance’s initial round of patent leather Gator Run styles in black and Shadow Red were followed with two suede variations in Timberwolf and Star Burst/Sea Salt. The upcoming mesh variations will bring the number of Gator Run looks on the market to six. Further releases remain unconfirmed, but Aimé Leon Dore founder Teddy Santis has also teased a collaboration on the sneaker.
The brand has employed similar seasonal material variations on its other recent lifestyle models, including the 204L, the Abzorb 2000 and the Abzorb 2010.
The latest New Balance Gator Run styles will be released from newbalance.com on Wednesday at 10 a.m. ET. Both colorways retail for $130 each.
