Todd Patrick is paying homage to its Michigan roots.
The men’s streetwear label—founded by designer, Desyree Nicole—announced its first collaborative collection with the NBA‘s Detroit Pistons.
The collaboration was exactly what the “Next in Fashion” contestant said she was preparing for. “I stayed away from collaborations because I wanted the first one to be monumental and a nod to exactly where I come from,” Nicole told Rivet.
The six-piece collection includes two T-shirts, a hoodie, athletic pants and shorts, all with the relaxed silhouettes and texture combinations the brand is known for. The lineup also features a denim workwear jacket. To give it a worn-in, vintage feel, which Nicole describes as the “Detroit look,” she finished the jacket with a stone wash and brass details.
“We see a lot of collaborations in sports these days, but few with this much originality,” Bilal Saeed, vice president of brand and marketing strategy for the Detroit Pistons, told Rivet. “You’re able to experience Nicole’s aesthetic with each unique piece [from] the collection.”
Nicole said she thinks the collection “will shift the way the league goes about design partnerships.”
“The Pistons heritage is my heritage,” she said. “The mentality, the vibe and the inspiration behind every collection I have is influenced by home.”
“I’m thankful the Pistons team trusted the vision and [were] collaborative throughout [the entire process],” she added.
The Todd Patrick x Detroit Pistons collection will launch exclusively at the team’s home, Little Caesars Arena, when the team takes on the Cleveland Cavaliers on Dec. 2. It retails for $50-$150.
