“Molly and I both share a deep love for denim, so much so that we often show up to fittings wearing the same outfit,” Mendes said. “I couldn’t be more excited for her to launch this collection. She really knocked it out the park and I’m beyond proud of her.”

Madewell said it brought Dickson’s “creative vision to life,” using its expertise in denim to turn her ideas into pieces that it believes will “last a lifetime.” Each one-of-a-kind garment is tagged with a co-branded label or stamped detail showcasing the partnership.

Sweeney, of “The Handmaid’s Tale” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” fame, served as the inspiration for the collaboration‘s denim oversized crop shirt and the low-rise baggy jean in a trendy wide-leg silhouette.

“She tried on a pair of oversized jeans and we rolled the waist. We both looked at it like, ‘Ooh, dang, that looks really cool,’” Dickson said. “And then she literally wore them for three days straight.”

Sink “could not stop talking about” behind the cargo jeans, which Dickson styled with Madewell’s striped rugby polo. The 21-year-old Texas native coupled with a ‘70s vibe were the guiding force behind the oversized overalls, after Dickson saw a photo of a similar garment and “really liked the idea of snatching in the waist with the belt to make it a little bit more feminine.”

Singer-songwriter Kelsea Ballerini’s physique shaped the crossover baggy straight jeans. “When she first put these jeans on, her butt looked so good,” Dickson said. “They hit you in the perfect spot where it accentuates your waist.”

The New York stylist and North Dakota native also drew inspiration for the collection from her own life. The crop tank is “thick enough for you to feel comfortable without wearing a bra,” she said. A sports bra influenced the denim bralette because it’s “so flattering when girls show their collarbones,” Dickson added. Nailing the perfect peekaboo was the catalyst for the cutout baggy straight jeans. “We did a few trial and errors on the sample,” she said. “It’s so cool that they’re baggy and loose at the bottom, but they’re really sexy on top.”

Madewell’s stylist collaboration comes as the company recently named a new brand president, Adrienne Lazarus, who will be tasked with appealing to younger audiences as its core customers get older. Emerging music stars including Suki Waterhouse feature in Madewell’s summer campaign while a Brooklyn popup catered to Gen Z’s penchant for vintage treasures.
