Spanx is introducing its lightest denim yet.
On Tuesday, the shapewear and apparel brand launched SPANXsupersmooth Authentic 360 Lightweight Denim, a collection made with fabrics that are 4 oz. lighter than existing Authentic 360 denim fabrics.
The concept was driven by direct customer feedback.
“Our customer loves denim, but she’s always looking for ways to feel more comfortable, especially in warmer months. We saw a clear opportunity to evolve our Authentic 360 franchise with a lighter-weight fabrication that still delivers the same signature smoothing and stretch,” Caitlin McCarthy, Spanx VP of merchandising, told SJ Denim. “This launch is about giving her an easy, breathable option she can wear all day, without having to choose between comfort and style.”
Authentic 360 is Spanx’s take on sculpting jeans. Made with 61 percent cotton, 35 percent Tencel and 4 percent elastmultiester, the fabrics give garments a soft drape away from the body while maintaining the stretch, structure and smoothing properties. The fabric weight is 9.5 ounces after wash.
McCarthy added that achieving Spanx’s signature smoothing in a lighter-weight denim required a highly intentional balance of fabric innovation and construction. “As you reduce weight, you risk losing the structure and hold that defines the brand’s fit,” she explained.
With SPANXsupersmooth Authentic 360 Lightweight Denim, the brand engineered the fabrication to maintain that sculpting effect while introducing more breathability and drape. “It’s about delivering the same performance our customers expect, in a way that feels effortless for warmer weather,” she said.
The collection includes a shell tank, a mini dress, a barrel-leg jumpsuit, utility barrel jeans and super wide-leg jeans. Washes span dark to light indigo with lighter washes with fading for a vintage look.
Sizes range from XS-3X with inseams across regular, tall and petite. The collection retails for $98-$148.
Denim continues to serve as a key area of innovation for Spanx.
“Denim remains a cornerstone of our customer’s wardrobe, and we see consistent demand for styles that combine everyday versatility with elevated comfort,” McCarthy said. “At Spanx, we view denim as an opportunity to redefine expectations—bringing our expertise in fit, smoothing, and innovation into a category that hasn’t traditionally prioritized comfort. Continued investment allows us to evolve core franchises like Authentic 360 while introducing new fabrications and silhouettes that meet how she wants to dress today.”
