Here’s a quick roundup of the latest drops from leading denim brands.
Banana Republic
Denim is a key transitional category for Banana Republic. The Gap Inc.-owned nameplate released it’s a new denim range offering a variety of fits and washes for men and women.
The denim range is made using regenerative cotton sourced from Regenagri certified farms. The cotton grown with regenerative farming practices that improve biodiversity and secure the health of the land and those who live on it.
Key fits include the women’s high-waisted bow jean, a barrel-leg style with a matching slider belt, and men’s Slim Traveler Jean 2.0, an update to a high-stretch favorite style with more pronounced texture.
Banana Republic introduces a men’s denim shirt cut from a soft denim fabric in a weight that’s just slightly heavier than chambray. The shirt is unlined and breathable so it’s easy to layer through the seasons. For women, a relaxed oversized denim shirt is offered in medium and dark rinse. Another cotton/hemp denim shirt gives a more tailored look with pointed collars and longer cuffs.
Outerwear is a strong focus as well. Banana Republic brings back its best-selling ’90s Denim Jacket, a soft yet rugged staple made with 100 percent cotton. The women’s jacket is available in washed black. For a longer outerwear alternative, the Oversized Denim Trench Coat brings a utilitarian twist on the classic trench coat. The women’s jacket has a roomy fit, topstitch detailing, and a rich denim color.
Naked & Famous
Naked & Famous launched a jean made with Foxfibre, an organic cotton “imbued with the hues of nature.”
Developed by Foxfibre founder Sally Fox, the naturally colored cotton is grown methodically slow through a crossbreeding program. This innovation eliminates the need for bleach, dyes and chemicals.
The brown-ish cotton is used in Naked & Famous’ All Natural Foxfibre Selvedge jean, a 15 oz. Japanese selvedge denim. The Foxfibre cotton is featured on the interior weft side of the fabric, giving the jean a distinctive warm earthy hue derived from the soil and sun. As time passes, the Foxfibre cotton develops a unique patina, evolving into a richer and warmer tone. This contrasts with the organic cotton indigo exterior.
The jean is finished with antique copper buttons and rivets custom-made by YKK, and a natural vegetable-tanned leather patch. The jean’s brown gradient selvedge ID is a nod to the denim’s evolving nature, the brand stated.
Ksubi
Australian denim brand Ksubi makes its mark on cowboy-core with a new men’s and women’s capsule collection called “This Is Not a Rodeo.”
The 21-piece collection delivers a country twist to Ksubi favorites including the men’s Oh G jacket and Anti K and Bronko jeans through intricate hand-embellished details and cowboy inspired raw-cut applique. The collection also sees the return of Ksubi’s skeleton graphic.
Highlights include the women’s Low Rider and Soho jeans with decorative inlays and Valentina halter top and boxy Alabama crop shirt—both enhanced with laser etched Western-themed detailing.
The collection also offers a limited run of handcrafted hats made with Australian hatmaker BxmBxm. The Western hat features a hand-shaped crumpled brim, hand stitched accents and Ksubi’s signature distressing and box cross hardware.
