Watching Andrea Pompilio’s air force squad strutting down the runway was like being transported back to a time when aviators cared less about restrictive uniforms and more about bold, masculine outerwear with attitude. The designer sent out a series of elegantly tailored coats that were belted high at the waist, conjuring long and lean silhouettes that oscillated seamlessly between chic and athletic. Wide-legged woolen pants had a vintage feel.
Although several looks felt passé, especially those made from quilted denim, and the military theme ran riot (cue rank insignia on shirt collars and turtlenecks for one), Pompilio stayed relevant with a flurry of interesting textures, including brushed wool and rippled leather seen on bulky blazers, blousons and coats.
