Elle Fanning made Valentino dreams come true at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival premiere of her film “Sentimental Value” on Thursday in Toronto.
The actress wore a black and white look by creative director Alessandro Michele for the Italian luxury fashion house’s 2026 resort collection. The classic look featured a crisp white bodice with an asymmetrical neckline and one long sleeve.
The top of the look included a cinched waist with subtle elements of gathered fabric and a cut out, adding further to the angular elements of the asymmetric attire. The skirt of Fanning’s look provided complete tonal contrast in black.

The long, flowing Valentino skirt extended the silhouette of the dress with a column shape, making Fanning’s frame appear long and tall. The actress completed her attire with Gianvito Rossi heels and accessorized with jewelry, including a bold statement pendant necklace, by Cartier.
Fanning’s hair was styled in a slicked-back tight bun, nodding to forthcoming fall hair trends, by hairstylist Jenda Alcorn. Her makeup featured a clean aesthetic with a rosy lip by artist Erin Ayanian Monroe. The actress’ TIFF look was curated by her longtime stylist Samantha McMillen.
Alessandro Michele debuted Valentino’s resort 2026 collection as an assortment of dreamscape portraits featuring models playing guitar, applying makeup or asleep in bed. “The women’s offering was utterly feminine, with all its chiffon dresses; polka dot ruched gowns; bouclé sets in candy tones; bon-ton skirt suits, and girly A-line dresses with cutouts, as well as cute cropped cardigans with lace inserts paired with pencil skirts with feathery trims to create pastel colorblocking,” Sandra Salibian wrote in WWD’s review of the collection.
“Floral embroideries, ruffles, bows and heart shapes were recurrent elements, as were the bourgeois undertone and the echoes of the ‘70s and ‘80s. These surfaced in the more boho printed frocks, broderie anglaise dresses, denim separates and folk-inflected vests, as well as the flared silhouettes of pants that came with fitted blazer jackets in tailoring.”
