Amal Clooney, clad in a springtime Balenciaga minidress, joined husband George Clooney for Monday night’s Chaplin Award Gala in New York City.
The human rights attorney turned to the Spanish luxury fashion house’s spring 2026 ready-to-wear collection for her look. Cast in a shade of deep violet, Clooney’s minidress moment was crafted with a soft fabric and created an off-the-shoulder bodice with a tulip-inspired, cape-like flowing fit.
A tiered skirt that was much more form-fitting featured beneath the bodice and a band of fabric flowed at the back, augmenting the tiered, layered effect of the look. Clooney favored gold accessories to complement her attire.

Creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli‘s spring 2026 ready-to-wear collection for Balenciaga made its runway debut as part of Paris Fashion Week in October 2025. The collection marked Piccioli’s first under the Balenciaga banner, and his curation was a “strong debut,” per Miles Socha’s WWD review of the collection.
“Nods to the founder were many, including T-shirt, white shirt and black leather cape versions of the founder’s famous Darth Vader-esque 1967 wedding ensemble; and numerous balloon dresses and skirts, the most striking in black leather,” Socha wrote.
From the opening sack dress to other rarefied designs, “underlying these innovations is a kindness and goodwill that Piccioli has demonstrated his entire career, and maybe that’s the newest thing in fashion,” Socha wrote.
