Nike Is Turning the Dunk Low Into a Dress Shoe

Premium leather carries over all the way to the lining.

One of the defining trends of 2026 has been the tweaking of sneakers to be dressier. Sneaker loafers have led the way, but there have been a number of other formal retooling of classics. Joining the mix soon will be a duo of Dunk Lows that look more buttoned-up than ever.

Two Nike Dunk Low dress shoes are on the way with plain but premium leather. Available in either all-black or all-olive, the shoes make use of a thick and high-gloss leather throughout the upper, including the liner. Rope laces further tip off the snazzier intentions, while branding has been removed from the mustache and pared down to debossing on the tongue. The one deviation in color across the two sneakers comes from the olive variant, which features a black sole unit.

While a need to dial down the volume on Dunk releases has been called out by Nike in earnings reports, the company has still continued to experiment with the sneaker quite a bit this year. A Harris Tweed collaboration brought the Scottish fabric to three colorways, while new Gore-Tex reinforcement prepped the silhouette for this winter.

Away from Nike, Kith gave a “Black Tie” makeover to the Adidas Superstar through five different variants returning to a concept Ronnie Fieg began while at David Z. Clot and has also dressed up the Superstar several times amid an even wider series of extreme transformations on Adidas icons.

A release date hasn’t been confirmed for the Nike Dunk Low dress shoe, but it’s expected to release through Nike’s website and select third-party retailers before the year comes to a close. Pricing has also yet to be confirmed.
