What could be more rugged than an Air Force 1 equipped with a waterproof Gore-Tex membrane and a durable Vibram rubber outsole? The same configuration in all-black, of course.
Nike, Inc.’s Sportswear division is set to deliver several styles of the Air Force 1 Low GTX Vibram sneaker for holiday 2025. Arriving at a favorable time for wet, unpredictable winter weather, the updated version of Nike’s early 1980s basketball classic comes with minimal modifications aesthetically, staying firmly rooted in the look that made the shoe so iconic in the first place.

Its toe perforations are filled in to keep water from entering, but still have the intended appearance of the shoe’s standard vamp. A premium leather is used on the upper and is paired with a gusseted ballistic nylon tongue, two-tone rope laces and a Gore-Tex-branded dubrae on the left shoe. The heel’s traditional Air branding sits atop the yellow Vibram logo, a signifier of the model’s upgraded composition. And not only is the rubber compound itself more durable than that of a standard Air Force 1, but the outsole also features an all-new lugged traction pattern to make the shoe grippier on slick surfaces.
Along with the Vibram updates, the other major change to this Air Force 1 will go mostly unnoticed to those who aren’t wearing it. Its liner is enhanced with a waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex which keeps the wearer’s foot dry as they encounter rain, snow and slush. Given that much of the appeal of the classic black Air Force 1 lies in its ability to withstand wear and tear through repeated use, a version with even longer-lasting materials should prove popular as colder temperatures begin to arrive.
The aforementioned black and white-based Nike Air Force 1 Low GTX Vibram sneakers will be accompanied by other styles including a Clay Green/Speed Yellow/Sequoia colorway.
Due to the numerous upgrades made to the model, the Gore-Tex and Vibram-equipped Air Force 1 Low will come at a considerably higher retail price than the standard $115 for the Air Force 1 Low ’07 sneaker. The Air Force 1 Low GTX Vibram will retail for $150 and will be available from Nike’s Snkrs app and select Nike Sportswear retailers. The full colorway for the black pair is Off Noir/Black/Speed Yellow and its style code is HV5953-001.
