Awake NY’s Air Jordan 5 Collaboration Is Being Released Again

One of the year’s most coveted sneaker collaborations, the Awake NY x Air Jordan 5, is getting a second and final release before the month ends.

Following a highly publicized and at times controversial launch, the collaboration’s Black/Racer Blue colorway is confirmed to be released Saturday. This comes after Awake NY launched the style and an exclusive Arctic Pink colorway earlier in August.

Awake’s first Jordan collaboration was a 2024 Air Ship project which featured two colorways. The New York-based streetwear brand followed that up with the Air Jordan 5, adding numerous tweaks to Michael Jordan’s fifth signature model. Most notably, the pair’s lateral and medial TPU netting has been modified with a reflective “A” cutout while the tongue’s Jumpman logo is superimposed over the full Awake logo. 

To celebrate the collaboration, Awake NY held a Park Jam community event in the Lower East Side which featured a human claw machine, an Air Jordan 5-shaped inflatable slide and more activities. 

While both the black and pink-based colorways have proven popular, the latter pair has been the subject of commotion on social media. Only 7,000 pairs of the style are said to exist, with the majority of pairs featuring “0001/7,000” stitching behind the tongues, although at least a handful of pairs have been confirmed to lack the numbering. This alone has contributed to confusion around the release, but another layer was added to the mix when a social media user allegedly took payments for so-called friends-and-family links, only to leave customers empty-handed when all was said and done.

The opportunity to purchase the pink pair has come and gone, but there will be a chance at redemption for the black colorway, which has a style code of DV4982-004. Snkrs will release the black Awake NY x Air Jordan 5 on Saturday at 10 a.m. ET for a retail price of $230.
