After Awake NY revealed in February its upcoming Air Jordan 5 collaboration in “Arctic Pink,” a look at the second colorway in the two-sneaker collection has now surfaced.
The second sneaker to join the collaboration is a “Black/Racer Blue” Air Jordan 5. The upcoming pair features details identical to the aforementioned “Arctic Pink,” but in a contrasting black-based look. The “Black/Racer Blue” look uses a full black tumbled leather upper with contrast stitching in white throughout.

A Racer Blue shade fills in the branding, which includes heel Nike Air embroidery and “23” stitching and Awake’s logo juxtaposed with the Jumpman across the sneaker’s reflective Metallic Silver tongue. Further customization comes in the form of an “A”-shaped cutout on the Air Jordan 5’s lateral and medial side netting, which is a first for the 1990 model.

First released in ’90, the Air Jordan 5 is having a banner year for its 35th anniversary. The model has already been released in its “Black Metallic Reimagined” colorway and with other original colorways scheduled to be reissued in “Fire Red” and “Grape.”
The “Racer Blue” Awake NY x Air Jordan 5 first look came courtesy of Aiden “Bobo” Williams on Instagram, who was photographed by @vondonunitednyc. Despite the early look, Awake NY has yet to formally announce the collaboration.
Originally expected to be released in September, @brandon1an reports that the Awake NY x Air Jordan 5s have been moved up to an August release with the “Arctic Pink” arriving first on Aug. 16 and the “Black/Racer Blue” following on Aug. 30.
As of now, the Awake NY x Air Jordan 5 “Black/Racer Blue” is expected to be released Aug. 30. The pair pictured here has a full colorway of “Black/Racer Blue/Metallic Silver/Silver/White/Clear” and its SKU is DV4982-004. Retail pricing has not been confirmed, but the sneakers are expected to cost $225.
