One of the most popular colorways of Michael Jordan’s first signature sneaker is set to be rereleased this summer for its 10th anniversary, but it’s not coming alone. The fan-favorite “Shattered Backboard” theme is also being transferred to another classic model, the Air Jordan 3.
With a Fossil/Starfish/Sail colorway, the upcoming Air Jordan 3 Retro TEX women’s exclusive has been nicknamed “Shattered Backboard” for its use of similar colors, namely the Starfish orange shade used as an accent color.

Making this variation of the model unique is its TEX designation, short for textile which signifies the materials chosen for this Air Jordan 3. Rather than a traditional leather upper, this “Shattered Backboard” style is made up of a mostly vintage-looking canvas withs shaggy suede filling in the ankle collar, tongue and eyelets. A less textured Starfish suede is used in place of the Air Jordan 3’s signature elephant print sections at the toe and heel. The look is finished off with a translucent rubber outsole.

Although the Air Jordan 3 hasn’t been a focal point of Jordan Brand’s 2025 releases, there has still been a number of noteworthy launches including the “Black Cat,” “Lucky Shorts,” “Rare Air” and Valentine’s Day-themed versions of the sneaker. A Ma Maniére also launched a women’s-exclusive Diffused Blue Air Jordan 3 collaboration in March.
As Nike, Inc. celebrates 40 years of Air Jordans in 2025, the brand engaged in a huge marketing push which has included a “Unbannable” campaign based centered around the lore of the Air Jordan 1.
This Air Jordan 3 Retro TEX will be released exclusively in women’s sizes on July 11 for a retail price of $200. With a style code of IH7694-200, readers can find the style from Nike’s Snkrs app and select Jordan Brand retailers.
