Slim Shoes Dominate Hottest Products of Q2 2025 as the Lyst Index Signals Gen Z’s Passion for Minimalism

The Row's Dune Sandals are listed at number one.

The Q2 2025 Lyst Index has been released, and the quarterly report by the global shopping platform has revealed that five flat shoes are among its 10 hottest products. The rank reinforces the ongoing minimalist trend in the footwear industry, signaling that Gen Z is favoring slim shoes over high heels.

The five shoe styles that made the cut include The Row‘s Dune Sandals at number one; Miu Miu‘s Suede Loafers at number four; Vibram’s V-Soul Flats at number five; Ancient Greek Sandals’ Natural Iro Ballet Flats at number six, and Prada’s Collapse Re-Nylon And Suede Sneakers at number 10.

This list speaks to a few trends that have taken off in recent times, from flip-flops becoming more ubiquitous in a variety of social settings to the blend of sneakers and ballet flats. The through-line connecting these five shoes is a focus on low-profile silhouettes that embody the message that less is more.

The Row‘s Dune sandal, priced at $750, has helped to spark the rise of flip-flops as a trendy shoe look beyond the beach or pool. Jonathan Bailey wore them on the red carpet for a “Jurassic World Rebirth” photo call; Lori Harvey paired them with distressed jeans and a breezy white crop top. Whether it’s more affordable or a luxury version, the barely there thong sandal has made itself known this summer.

In the same low-profile realm, ballet flats and ballet flat hybrid shoes have made vast strides this year. Prada’s Collapse Re-Nylon and suede sneakers embody the sneaker-ballerina trend, which took off this spring. Available in several colors, the $975 shoes feature a super low-to-the-ground sole connected to a slim, multitextured upper with an elasticized opening.

To name a few other examples of the trend, Louis Vuitton released its LV Sneakerina earlier this year; Adidas and Bad Bunny launched the Ballerina, and Puma reimagined two of its popular retro styles in balletic iterations. Also in the cross-over world, Vibram’s V-soul flat, which the brand describes as “geared towards feminine, indoor alternative fitness,” features ballet-like criss-crossing straps and individualized slots for each toe.

More traditional ballet flats are still popular as well, and mesh versions are especially trendy, so it’s no shock that Ancient Greek Sandals’ Natural Iro Ballet Flat, a rubber mesh style, is slated at number six.

Another flat shoe on the Hottest Products list is Miu Miu‘s suede loafers — the Prada subsidiary ranked as number one on Lyst’s Hottest Brands list. These shoes, embossed with the label’s logo, represent a more preppy sensibility that still maintains power in the fashion industry.

A sixth shoe also made the list at number eight, Isabel Marant’s Bekett Hidden Wedge high-top sneaker. While featuring a chunkier silhouette than others on the list, its heel is not prominently showcased, as its name suggests, thus still indicating a shift away from high heels and towards flatter footwear styles.
