Emily Blunt took a unique Ferragamo footwear look to a New York City screening of “The Devil Wears Prada 2” on Wednesday, signaling the upward mobility of the deep-vamp shoe trend.
Blunt, who returns as Emily Charlton in the long-awaited sequel releasing Friday, showcased Ferragamo’s distinctive S-shaped mule heel in black patent leather, which features a sculptural heel and a high-cut vamp with a deep V-neck outline. Inspired by an archive style, the shoe is available from the brand for $1,150. Styled by Jessica Paster, Blunt wore the shoes with a Ferragamo look including a black patent leather knee-length skirt and a bright red chunky knit wool cashmere cardigan adorned with golden Gancini hardware.
Blunt wouldn’t be the first to embrace a deep V-cut shoe. It’s the sophisticated take on the pump, mule and ballet flat that brands and celebrities have been pushing to the forefront lately. It’s a signature aesthetic for London-based footwear brand Le Monde Beryl, with its Luna slipper and Stella slipper styles showcasing a narrow outline along the foot. Meanwhile, American shoe brand Margaux‘s Phoebe style fits within this growing shape category, as does its collaborative Romy mule heel made with Alex Mill, which came out as part of a collection released last year.
