Matthieu Blazy’s Chanel not only was the hottest brand of the first quarter of 2026 but also scored the hottest shoe of the period, according to Lyst’s latest Index report.
The report covers the period between January and March. Blazy’s new pieces “ignited a digital groundswell, spreading from inner circle tastemakers outward” when they landed in stores in March. Indeed, Lyst found that the designer’s new Chanel pump silhouette was the second hottest product overall in Q1 and the top shoe. Chanel’s maxi flap bag came in sixth in the top products ranking.
Celine, which grabbed the number 20 hottest brand position, had the second hottest shoe and fourth hottest product overall in Q1. Lyst found that searches for the French brand’s ballet lace up shoes increased over 300 percent in the last three months.

Meanwhile, rising French skate shoe brand Village PM grabbed the third hottest shoe and the ninth hottest product on the index with its 1PM sneaker.
The latest ranking comes as Lyst unveiled on Wednesday an updated methodology tracking genuine brand heat that no longer solely focuses on search data collection on the platform.
The recalibrated methodology, implemented for the first quarter with Chanel topping the chart, is now structured around three interconnected dimensions of data — desire, demand and discovery — that aims to offer a more comprehensive and culturally attuned measure of brand heat.
The company noted that the model prioritizes aspiration-led demand, applies recency weighting, and excludes activity driven purely by discounting or negative attention, to track fashion brand heat over a three-month period.
To find the world’s hottest products, Lyst noted that its formula filters more than 8 million items by volume of social media mentions alongside searches, page views, interactions and sales on the shopping platform. The company noted it groups colors for styles and takes into account global demand per volume of stock available.
Demand data is still mostly sourced from the 160 million annual shoppers on Lyst. The platform said these insights remain the foundation of the Lyst Index.
