The Duchess of Cambridge returned to the Olympic Park on Friday to root for Team GB women’s hockey — and it worked a treat. After suffering a defeat to Argentina earlier this week, the team won a bronze medal after beating New Zealand 3-1. Dressed in a Team GB top and white skirt, the duchess — who served as captain of her high school hockey team — joined the crowd in a standing ovation, and later hugged the team captain Kate Walsh and praised the players. “She said congratulations and we all looked like we’d worked so hard, she gave me a little hug and just said I was really brave,” Walsh told Press Association. “She played a lot at school, so she knows the game, although the game’s moved on a little bit from when she played. Still she loves watching, it’s brilliant to have her there in the crowd.”
