LONDON — Thread, a London-based online business that offers personal styling advice and shopping recommendations for men, has received $8 million in a funding round led by venture capital firm Balderton Capital, Balderton said in a statement Sunday.
Thread, founded by Kieran O’Neill and Ben Phillips in 2012, states on its Web site that it counts among its existing backers veteran retailer Andrew Jennings; Miriam Lahage, chief merchant at Navabi and a former global head of fashion at eBay; Errol Damelin, founder of British consumer finance firm Wonga, and Shakil Khan, a founding investor in Spotify.
Balderton stated that Thread’s product combines smart technology with styling expertise, and applies this across a range of products and prices that make Thread “accessible to the average guy on the street.”
