LONDON — The British Fashion Council (BFC) has appointed model and writer Laura Bailey as a “cultural ambassador” for the organization, a newly created role, it said Thursday.
Bailey, who is also the partner of film producer Eric Fellner, is the first of a series of young ambassadors who will be named by the BFC ahead of London Fashion Week in September. The ambassadors will be charged with supporting the BFC in promoting British fashion design to the global market.
The BFC said Bailey and her fellow ambassadors will attend key events on the BFC’s calendar, such as London Fashion Week and the British Fashion Awards. They will also meet with designers and be regularly briefed on the organization’s activities, so the ambassadors can act as spokespeople for the young brands through their work in the fashion industry.
“Laura has an in-depth knowledge of the British fashion and film industry that we hope will provide our designers with increased media exposure and strong links with the other creative industries,” stated Caroline Rush, chief executive officer of the BFC.
