NEW YORK — Kyle Avila, who was arrested Monday for stealing $62,000 from a Marc Jacobs boutique in the West Village here, was released on bail Wednesday, the Department of Correctional Services said Thursday.
Avila, 25, a store employee, had been charged with one count of grand larceny in the second degree. A spokeswoman at the Manhattan District Attorney’s office said bail was set at $2,500.
A store manager, Mike Okerson, said a review of the deposits from the Marc Jacobs store located at 385 Bleecker Street from May 1 to 6 indicated that the deposits were short $67,977.60, according to the criminal complaint filed in a Manhattan state court.
Court papers said Avila, a native of California, allegedly admitted to “stealing money from the money drops.”
The name of Avila’s attorney could not be learned at press time.
