Janet Dhillon, executive vice president, general counsel and secretary of J.C. Penney Co. Inc., is leaving the firm after a six-year tenure.
Dhillon joined Penney’s in 2009 after three years as senior vice president and general counsel of US Airways Group and US Airways.
She served in the final two years of the first tenure of Myron “Mike” Ullman III as Penney’s chief executive officer and through the two years of Ron Johnson’s ceo stint prior to Ullman’s April 2013 return to the post.
Until a successor is named, Janet Link, deputy general counsel for the company, will serve as interim general counsel.
Dhillon’s departure follows the exit earlier this week of Debra Berman as the Plano, Tex.-based retailer’s chief marketing officer and the company’s disclosure on Wednesday that Kent Foster would retire from its board on May 15, the date of its next annual meeting. Foster has 17 years of service on the board and currently chairs its human resources and compensation committee.
Dhillon was the recipient of 46,332 time-based restricted stock units which were granted in 2012 and vested on March 13 of this year, according to the company’s 2013 definitive proxy.
