LONDON — European stock markets were down in mid-morning trading on Friday.
The FTSE MIB in Milan declined 0.4 percent to 18,738.63, followed by the DAX in Frankfurt, which fell 0.3 percent to 11,914.36. Both the CAC 40 in Paris and the FTSE 100 in London retreated 0.2 percent to 4,879.85 and to 7,254.32, respectively.
The euro traded at $1.05, the pound at $1.24, the Danish krone at $0.14 and the Swedish krona at $0.14 at 10:00 a.m. CET.
Retail and luxury stocks put on an uneven show with the morning’s biggest risers including Zalando, up 1.4 percent to 38.04 euros. Joules Group gained 1 percent to 2.47 pounds, and Boohoo.com advanced 0.8 percent to 1.47 pounds.
Among the morning’s biggest fallers were French Connection, down 1.7 percent to 0.35 pounds; Hennes & Mauritz, 1.4 percent to 242 Swedish kronor, and Yoox Net-a-porter, 1 percent to 22.03 euros.
