For the spring/summer 2026 season, Italian fine fabric company Reda is highlighting its 160-year heritage through two distinct collections for Reda 1865 and Reda Active at this year’s Milano Unica event. Both collections showcase the company’s refined skill, seamlessly combining innovation, research and sartorial creativity.
At 160 years, Ercole Botto Poala, chief executive officer of Reda, told Fairchild Studio that he continues to see Reda “push the boundaries of luxury by bringing innovation into the formalwear world. Thanks to a fully integrated process, ‘from sheep to shop,’ as we like to say, we ensure the perfect balance between sustainability, traceability and innovation. At every stage of our work, from selecting the finest natural fibers to creating exceptional fabrics, we pursue the goal of offering solutions that combine technical performance, sophisticated aesthetics and respect for the environment.”
The Reda Active, which debuted the company’s new era with a cashmere line of fabrics in July 2024, will continue to expand its The GOAT collection. Finding inspiration from the acronym “greatest of all time,” the collection will feature the world’s most precious and luxurious fibers and will represent Reda’s revolutionary vision for active as a “contemporary and dynamic look that transcends traditional paradigms to explore new horizons of style.”
“Reda Active is where innovation meets performance, embodying the perfect balance between nature, technological advancements and functionality,” said Poala. “This distinctive approach redefines activewear, offering garments that combine cutting-edge solutions with natural excellence.”
Moreover, Poala said that Reda Active stands out against other activewear brands with its use of merino wool as the main fiber in its fabrics, complemented by cashmere.
“This unique combination ensures exceptional comfort, breathability and performance,” said Poala. “Unlike many other brands, our line is specifically designed for sportswear and the active lifestyle, crafted entirely from natural fibers that are not only high-performing but also environmentally responsible. All our fabrics guarantee traceability, sustainability and the highest standards of animal welfare.”
Reda Active will show its latest collection at Milano Unica in a booth designed as a pro shop, inspired by the world of golf to mirror the creative foundation for the apparel.
Pieces in the collection include a piqué polo in wool-cashmere, a bi-color long-sleeve fleece made of quilted merino fabric and jersey, a Prince of Wales patterned vest with an adjustable drawstring at the hem and shorts in a wool-cashmere-linen blend with a drawstring waist. Additional accessories include a bandana and bucket hat in Prince of Wales fabric. All pieces are branded “The Goat Club.”
This season, Reda will also present its Milleottocentosessantacinque project, a cutting-edge fabric collection and artful storytelling named after the company’s founding year, for the Reda 1865 line. According to the company, the Milleottocentosessantacinque project “defines the boundaries of textile tradition through innovation and excellence” with a new technical poplin in merino wool at its core. The fabric, which prioritizes comfort and performance, merges a natural fiber with the characteristics of technical materials.
Additionally, the ROICA™ stretch fiber enhances performance remarkably, aiming for the highest standards of environmental sustainability.
The fabric is featured in a look designed by Massimo Monteforte which highlights its versatility and sophistication. The look includes a reinterpreted classic trenchcoat, a light blazer and jogging-inspired trousers. Notably, the genderless look using the collection exemplifies how a single material can be used to shape an entire look.
“The focal point of the collection is a new technical poplin in merino wool, which combines the natural comfort and breathability of merino with the performance qualities of technical fabrics,” said Poala. “This innovative fabric introduces unprecedented levels of elasticity, durability and freedom of movement, enabling a new approach to tailoring that redefines the silhouettes of garments, offering both style and functionality in perfect harmony.”
In addition to the collection, the Milleottocentosessantacinque includes a collaboration with contemporary artist Pietro Terzini. Terzini has reinterpreted the letters spelling Milleottocentosessantacinque with a fresh, modern approach to transform them into a unique and meaningful work of art.
“Terzini has given a fresh and irreverent perspective to such an important symbol, creating a dialogue between craftsmanship, design and contemporary art that adds a unique value to the collection,” said Poala. “The Milleottocentosessantacinque project collection is truly special because it marks a unique milestone for Reda, blending over 160 years of heritage with cutting-edge innovation to push the boundaries of textile tradition and design.”
Looking ahead, Poala told Fairchild Studio that the company believes “that the future of luxury lies in the ability to constantly reinvent itself while staying true to the artisanal quality that has defined us for over 160 years. Each fabric we create reflects our commitment to redefining the standards of elegance and functionality, producing garments that stand the test of time and tell a unique story of innovation, tradition and attention to detail.”
