The Levi Strauss Museum in Buttenheim, Germany is celebrating its 25th anniversary next month.
The museum, located in the house where Levi’s founder Levi Strauss was born in 1829, will host an event full of fashion, music and food on May 31.
The open-air celebration will take place along the Marktstraße and will include a runway show on a catwalk the length of a football field. The show will feature “Buttenheim’s Next Jeans Models” and showcase the latest denim trends.
The museum said the models have been chosen in a special casting and are receiving professional model training to prepare for the show.
In addition to the fashion show, guests who purchase tickets can look forward to a Franconian-American three-course menu. “Strolling tickets” are available for all other visitors, who will be able to take in the runway show, enjoy snacks and live music.
The Levi Strauss Museum takes visitors through Strauss’ journey, from his birth to his immigration to the U.S. Floors are dedicated to the history of jeans, featuring rare piece, and highlight the garment’s socio-cultural significance.
The event is a chance for the Levi Strauss Museum to bring together denim fans and the local community. The museum’s 20th anniversary events in 2020, including a denim art exhibition by artist Ian Berry and the unveiling of bronze statue of Strauss, were limited due to Covid restrictions.
