Long before Rag & Bone launched its Miramar collection of denim-print sweats and startups like Lab Denim pioneered digital dyeing, there was the Adidas denim soccer jersey.
On Tuesday, Adidas Originals launched a throwback collection inspired by the iconic denim-print kit worn by the U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT) during the 1994 FIFA World Cup, which took place across nine U.S. cities.
The drop is part of the buildup to FIFA World Cup 2026 in North America.
The new collection includes a V-neck polyester jersey, track jacket, drawstring shorts, a cap and star-print Samba OG sneakers.
“With the U.S. Denim jersey, we set out to capture the side of American soccer that has always been distinctive and original,” said Inigo Turner, Adidas football design director. “This design leans into that spirit with bold graphics, fearless color and a belief that the game here should look and feel like it belongs to the people.”
To emphasize the collection’s multi-generational appeal, Adidas Originals released an Instagram video showing former 1994 USMNT stars Alexi Lalas and Cobi Jones bidding on a vintage jersey alongside skater, model and musician Lil Dre.
The 1994 away kit reflected the fashion of the era while paying tribute to hard-wearing denim—an enduring symbol of American style. Though Brazil eventually eliminated the U.S., the team gave a memorable performance by reaching the Round of 16.
WorldSoccerShop, the pioneering online store for soccer jerseys and hard-to-find supporters’ gear, also released a version of the jersey with the American Outlaws, a nonprofit organization dedicated to uniting U.S. national team fans across the country through organized chapters and community support.
The jersey features a bespoke American Outlaws patch on the jersey’s upper-left chest, where club and national team crests typically sit. The typical American Outlaws arm patch also sits on the outside of the left arm.
“We’re thrilled to bring this piece of American soccer history back to fans in a fresh, wearable way,” said Tyler Clardy, WorldSoccerShop marketing director. “This collaboration with Adidas and the American Outlaws celebrates the passion of American soccer supporters and gives fans the ability to customize a piece that’s equal parts nostalgia and modern style.”
