Inspectorio Becomes First Quality Control and Inspections Platform to Receive Top ISO Certification

Integrated quality control and inspection software supplier, Inspectorio, has received ISO 27001 certification, an independent assessment of a platform’s cybersecurity readiness by the International Organization for Standardization.

The quality-control software-as-a-service (SAAS) company leverages machine learning to create systems for quality and compliance monitoring, connecting factories, vendors, brands and retailers on one platform. Inspectors can access Inspectorio’s platform to compile data about factory conditions and compliance practices and use it to create data-rich evaluations for executives.

Considering the substantial amount of proprietary data that Inspectorio collects in order to offer its service, cyber security had to be a priority for the company, co-founder and CEO, Carlos Moncayo Castillo, said.

“Our approach to cybersecurity is a reflection of our values at Inspectorio,” Castillo said in a statement. “We believe that it is not only a matter of respect to guarantee the safety and security of our customers’ data, but it is a matter of necessity. With this certification and other proactive measures, we set a new standard for the inspection industry and draw attention to cybersecurity—an essential and increasingly complex issue.”

The ISO 27001 certification doesn’t just cover the software Inspectorio’s clients can see, it also covers all Inspectorio assets like its infrastructure and data structure to ensure there are no weak points in the organization. According to the ISO, the accreditation “demonstrates that your company is following information security best practice.”

Additionally, Inspectorio said it has partnered with HackerOne in testing its platform. HackerOne employs a legion of more than 200,000 hackers to test the security practices of its client companies. Using this service, companies like Inspectorio, GM, Twitter and Starbucks have been able to test their vulnerability and act accordingly to prevent breaches without risking an actual attack.

After receiving $10 million in Series A funding, Inspectorio is looking to establish itself as the leading SAAS provider for inspection services. For the company founded by veterans in the sourcing industry, the certification was challenging but worthwhile.

“Inspectorio takes security extremely seriously, and we are proud to be the only vendor in our industry that is ISO 27001 certified,” said Dr. Trung Dinh, Inspectorio’s security architect. “The process to obtain ISO certification is demanding and painstaking for a good reason—if a customer is entrusting us with something as sensitive as their data, we need to be able to demonstrate our ability to protect it. With this certification, our customers are assured that all the security measures of our SaaS offering, from detailed processes to broader risk assessments, have been verified by salient third parties.”
