Are you sitting? Good, because you’re about to be treated to a detailed, never-before-heard breakdown of the methods (and mindset) needed to start (and scale) billion-dollar brands, from none other than Kim Kardashian — the global phenom whose shapewear empire, it’s safe to say, has defined our generation.
Kardashian is the latest star to share her wisdom on the online learning platform MasterClass, which also offers classes across various disciplines led by the likes of Marc Jacobs, Usher, Martha Stewart, and Anna Wintour. “The New Rules of Business: The 10 Kimmandments” launched today, but it has already generated no shortage of buzz, and rightfully so. Who wouldn’t want to hear, straight from the source, how Kardashian managed to turn her followers into customers, overtook FYPs worldwide, created an element of obsession with her businesses, and learned to consistently reinvent herself to stay ahead?
This drive, clearly, runs in the family, and her MasterClass endeavor represents the most recent success of the entrepreneurially driven Kardashian clan. Kylie Jenner, for instance, unveiled her brand’s limited-edition King Kylie Collection not too long ago to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Kylie Cosmetics — effectively making the O.G. Lip Kit shades shoppable again. Kourtney Kardashian, too, made waves by releasing the last drop of the year for her women’s health supplement company Lemme: which is called Lemme Burn and helps “support overall metabolic health and reduce visceral fat,” according to WWD’s wellness market reporter Emily Burns. And Kendall Jenner, in conjunction with partaking in regular, high-profile modeling endeavors, keeps her own business, 818 Tequila, at the top of everyone’s minds — whilst also starring in campaigns for other brands like Therabody.
“I turned being underestimated into billions,” Kardashian preaches in her new class’ trailer. “When people underestimate you, use it.”
She goes on to grant sneak peeks of other tangible advice that will be reiterated upon throughout the MasterClass offering.
Our favorite? “People invest in you and how you make them feel.” Another big one: “Get it in people’s hands,” Kardashian shares with her virtual students, referring to how she generates visibility for her products by sending samples to microinfluencers who then promote it through their own channels. “You want to get that feedback — you want those focus groups.”
Immersing yourself in Kardashian’s world (thought process, professional tactics, and values included) has never been easier. Indeed, all you have to do is click “play” on her just-arrived class, pull out your notepad, and listen carefully.
Not a MasterClass member yet? You’re in luck, because all of the platform’s subscription tiers are currently going for 40 percent off until December 15: whether you get the “Standard” package that allows you to view over 200 classes from one device (with no offline capabilities), the “Plus” that lets two devices in a single household stream the videos at the same time (with offline mode included), or the “Premium,” which bumps this device maximum to six. Sign up here for yourself and don’t forget to grab a gift subscription to MasterClass for every lifelong learner on your list this year.
Even better if they can’t stop raving about that nipple detail–bedecked T-shirt bra (you know the one), body-skimming maxi dress, and long-sleeve bodysuit — wanting nothing more for Christmas than to get inside the head of the woman behind these viral bestsellers.
