Design trio Lou Menais, Léa Sebban and Jerry Journo staged their spring show at Paris’ Grand Véfour, a hub for Belle Epoque intellectual society women, who served as the collection’s muses.
The designs succeeded in capturing the stylish, left-of-center attitude they were after with a combination of eccentric bourgeois and street. They worked lace in off-beta colors, like baby blue and red on slipdresses and camisoles, and layered them over T-shirts, jeans and track pants.
Gender fluidity played a big part, as girls wore men’s shirts cut open around the shoulders and guys dipped into the lace. Some of the best pieces were retro shirts and twinsets done in feminine fabrics with bright, contrast ribbed collars.
