“Designing collections nowadays — it’s very quick,” explained Rebecca Taylor at her spring 2017 appointment. “For us, it’s a conversation with our customer — people are giving constant feedback on Instagram and social media — it’s the closest we’ve ever been able to get to the customer, and in such a far-reaching way.”
So what does her customer want? From what Taylor presented in the showroom, a bit of nostalgia tampered with boyish charm. There were beautiful lace volume-sleeved tops — the kind you would buy at a vintage store, but cannot find — as well as slipdresses in the label’s signature floral prints, button-front skirts with matching halter tops, and great patchwork denim jeans and jackets. “It’s just what feels right at the moment,” said Taylor.
