A year after the launch of Kendall + Kylie, the contemporary collection by Kendall and Kylie Jenner, the sisters, models, brand ambassadors, entrepreneurs and social media masters decided to elevate the collection. “We wanted to make our look book super sophisticated this time,” said Kylie, wearing a crop top from her lineup and a zip-up miniskirt from Edun, during a preview of the spring collection in the Kendall + Kylie offices on West 24th Street in Manhattan. The look book was shot at Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills — “It’s haunted,” Kylie said — and styled by Monica Rose, Kendall’s personal stylist and her doppelganger. “Kendall picked her,” Kylie said. “Kendall, she really looks a lot like you.”
The collection’s creative director Chelsey Santry provided the specifics of the lineup: Cult classic films such as “The Lost Boys,” “Mad Max” and “Alice in Wonderland” were key references for the lineup that was heavy on compact knits — slinky dresses and tops — a statement trench, leather jackets, T-shirts, oversize striped shirting and some pajama-esque looks, as well as a bounty of bodysuits in off-shoulder styles, tanks, and spaghetti straps. The Jenners provided the big-picture ethos: “It’s definitely our personal style,” Kendall said. “It’s the things that we love. I think that the people who are going to buy this, whether it’ a new customer or a fan, kind of want a piece of us.” Profound, no. Accurate, yes.

As celebrity-driven contemporary collections go, Kendall + Kylie is perfectly innocuous and very on-trend. The Jenners’ personal style — Kendall is more of a casual tomboy; Kylie a curvy vamp — hits upon the current look that sits at the intersection of the runway, the street, hip-hop style and E! culture. If a customer wants in, the stylistic world of Kendall + Kylie is available for $90 to $490 with leather jackets upward of $1,000.
New for spring was a growing accessories collection, which featured minimal bags and backpacks with bright faux fur trims and fuzzy greyhound key chains and charms — done in homage to Kylie’s dog Norman — that seem descended from the Fendi furbies. They already have a fan. “Kim [Kardashian] saw one of our backpacks and keychains in a store the other day,” Kylie said. “She Snapchatted it and was, like, ‘Oh my god, North would love this.’ And then she realized it was Kendall + Kylie.
