Featuring the drum beats and traditional singing of a live African band, Sophie Theallet’s rooftop presentation was an atmospheric occasion. “I love Africa in my heart,” she said backstage and this was clearly captured in her fun, energetic lineup for spring.
The silhouettes were sexy and powerful — including slim-fit pantsuits, trapeze dresses and other feminine looks cinched at the waist — and she used the finest fabrics, from delicate French lace to raffia woven in silk. Highlights included an abstract print pantsuit topped with a dramatic floating cape, a silk raffia and feather top paired with a lattice-work skirt, and a transparent gown adorned with exaggerated feathers. Kudos to Theallet for celebrating women and all their beauty with models in a variety of shapes and sizes.
