Celebrity stylist-turned-fashion designer Kithe Brewster, who has dressed stars including Julianne Moore, Gwyneth Paltrow and Beyoncé, launched his line seven seasons ago and has become known for his multifunctional and reversible pieces. This season had a Thirties theme with asymmetric dresses and caftans in a variety of silks, including charmeuse, gazar, chiffon, georgette and lamé.
The strongest looks were the gazar pieces, not least a voluminous dress in purple, with swathes of fabric that looked like wings at the back. However, the less structured, bottom-exposing looks felt more like cleverly draped handkerchiefs. Brewster’s instinctive manipulation of fabrics is first class, but the execution does, at times, lack finesse.
