Arthur Miller and Marilyn Monroe, dancehall and reggae street-art culture — these were the show notes for Sophie Theallet’s spring outing.
The result was a splashy and colorful collection with mixed prints and pattern plays on flirtatious (à la Marilyn) silhouettes. For example, Theallet paired a black-and-gold silk jacquard knit cardigan with a black-and-white seersucker wrap dress that had a colorful wave-pattern belt, while a memorable gown was done in a dancehall-themed print organza and featured a black lace bodice.
These might sound like tricky references, but Theallet managed to maintain the chic factor.
