Monique Lhuillier’s pre-fall collection was an ode to Spain. Matador jackets and flamenco ruffles were translated into modern evening attire with Lhuillier’s glamorous flair. “I did a lot of separates this season,” she said, citing a black point d’esprit top, long in the back and cropped in the front and paired with high-waisted black cigarette pants. She also used pearl embellishments on everything from black sheer gowns to the d’orsay shoes. “I just thought it was time to bring the classicism back.”
On that note, she also featured her more traditional chiffon and embroidered lace gowns topped with embroidered furs, and the finale: “a stark white gown with floral beaded embellishments” — definitely Andalusian-inspired.
