The relaxed attitude that Elie Saab first explored for spring ran through the designer’s pre-fall collection. He looked to late-Sixties London for romantic shapes with a bohemian air. Black lace dresses took on a youthful charm worn flat booties or sandals. Other looks, such as a green leather laser-cut floral miniskirt and a fully fringed maxiskirt, seemed music festival-ready. Geometric motifs were thrown into the mix and offered a crisper take on the counterculture vibe. Yet Saab knows there will always be a customer for his classic tailoring and glitz. He played to her with fresh takes on the familiar, such as a great black cashmere cape and an icy sliver-sequined Deco-motif gown under a matching fur stole.
