Channeling the energy of the obsessive collector, creative director Sarah Burton worked elements of the fanciful and grotesque into this lavish and refined collection. Burton looked to heirlooms, treasures and colorful bits that the natural world is collecting for patterns on Forties-style dresses and fluid silhouettes, as well as vintage jewel-like embellishments on delicate tulle tunics worn over flared trousers. Butterflies, lips, beetles, jewels, moths, hearts and skulls were among the many decorative effects. A fitted black suit with flared trousers was embroidered with butterflies, lips and eyes in primary colors, while a sleeveless dress came with a sheer top adorned with appliquéd butterflies and flowers.
