Although designer Andrea Pompilio said his fall collection started with the image of Milanese gentlemen from the Fifties, he refrained from taking the cues too literally, conjuring his own notion of masculine elegance, compatible with the streets of today.
Long and oversized double-breasted coats looked current as Pompilio spiced them up with interesting woolen textures, or did them in the company’s signature dark yellow.
Pants with extra-big cuffs were tapered, and had a sporty feel thanks to a looser cut. These were a perfect foil for the bulky shoulders of cropped tone-on-tone blazers. Although the lineup turned slightly repetitive with too many stripes and windowpane checks, the collection exuded an easy, laid-back chic.
