Paula Gerbase let fabrics guide her, including much maligned polyester, for her languid and understated fall collection.
“I find so much value in things that can at times be worthless,” she said. “Fabrics like polyesters, developing them to be really beautifully crafted – I thought it was a really lovely contradiction and I think also felt right and modern to do now.”
The Savile Row-trained designer also worked shearling and sheer fabrics into her lineup.
Consider a long collarless shearling coat, or an oversize sweater over white roomy trousers, or a long skirt paired with a sheer waterproof organza shirt with 3-D pleating. Shirting was sheer or treated with folds and pleating in cotton or organza.
