Color was crucial to Cédric Charlier’s fall show. He used a modernist palette of cobalt, Kelly green, burgundy, peach and optic white in combinations to make his streamlined, bourgeois sport shapes pop in an appealing way. Without that, the clothes would have been well-cut, very wearable but a bit bland.
The smooth, contoured lines of varsity tops, bomber jackets, A-line and pleated skirts and turtlenecks approximated a futuristic school uniform. Some of the most notable looks came in graphic contrasts of peach and royal blue, such as a short dress fitted at the waist with a V-neckline and a flared skirt, while soft pleated skirts in dark iridescent panels of navy, black and burgundy dressed up the collegiate concept.
