Amy Smilovic’s jumping off point for her fall collection for Tibi was Inuit culture, and more broadly, the idea of creating warmth in a range of colors and textures. “There are a lot of long, lean silhouettes mixed with coziness,” the designer said before the show, as she pointed to a new version of skinny-fit flared pants, styled with slides and fur-covered flats.
Culottes were the other pant silhouette of the season — done in denim, wool and jersey in varying color patterns — worn with off-the-shoulder knits and oversize shearling and mohair outerwear. In neutral tones as well as burgundy, powder blue, lilac and navy, Smilovic’s collection, including a few pared-down evening options, bore a restrained and casual elegance, with some looks reminiscent of The Row.
