Tia Cibani delved into the work of Scottish artist Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh, channeling ideas of “faded grandeur and dim opulence” in her romantic fall collection. Cibani’s signature draped dresses, rendered in languid panne velvet and double-faced satin, took on tulip and cocoon silhouettes with petal-shaped sleeves and pleats, some featuring cutouts and waist detailing. One key print, a botanical painted-glass effect done on a weighty silk satin gown, was inspired by Mackintosh’s work, but most of the looks were done in peach and mossy green, colors she drew from semiprecious stones.
