Alice Temperley went all out with texture, color and embellishment in this decadent collection. The patterns and prints were worked on daywear — which in Temperley’s glamorous universe meant a silver and blue rococo print jacquard skirt paired with an intarsia sweater – through to high-octane evening looks.
These included a cream tulle floor-length skirt and top, stitched with intricate black Art Deco embroidery and laced with crystals; or a body-hugging column dress in a textured matelassé fabric, printed with a mosaic of images of stained glass windows.
But it was the designer’s series of folkloric looks that had the most appeal. They included a black organza pencil skirt stitched with rows of roses and pansies, paired with a sheer black shirt; or a blush colored strapless organza gown with a bustier top, with chains of embroidered wildflowers that wound around the top and skirt.
