Vivienne Tam moved out of her comfort zone for fall. Sure, she still had riffs of Asian-inspired pieces such as the “Mao letter” wrap dress and a red “Mao” coat, but this time around, she focused on the punk movement with a touch of Pop Art. The result was a mash-up of ideas from leather tops with zipper details to tartan plaid pants to leather pleated panel skirts and even a “pop culture Obama” print on dresses. With so much going on, it seems the designer is struggling with how to mix tradition and rebellion.
