The Lyst Index report for the second quarter of 2025 was revealed on Wednesday, and for the first time since its creation in 2018, no bags were included in its hottest product list.
Released on Wednesday, the quarterly report, which tracks the popularity of fashion brands and products based on data from over 160 million global users, signaled a change in what shoppers prioritize in uncertain economic times. Instead of “It” bags, the top 10 hottest items were dominated by footwear — The Row’s flip-flops were the number-one product in the list, which also included five other shoe styles.
In a year marked by the bag charms craze and the rise of Labubu as a must-have accessory in fashion, the absence of bags from the list comes as a surprise. Past reports from the Lyst Index often featured luxury and vintage bags at the top of the hottest products ranking.
