Members of the cast and creative team behind the film “The Smashing Machine” along with special guests hit the red carpet on Monday for the 2025 Venice Film Festival, wearing designs courtesy of Prada, Tamara Ralph, Nicol & Ford and more.
Emily Blunt brought shimmer and sparkle in her strapless dress, featuring sculptural appliqués. Dwayne Johnson, the film’s leading man, suited up in a powder blue shade with his Prada look. Ahead, WWD breaks down those looks and more.
Emily Blunt
Blunt turned to the runway for her Tamara Ralph look. The Oscar-nominated actress wore a strapless dress from the designer’s fall 2025 couture collection. The shimmering gown featured a formfitting design with sinuous sculptural elements at the neckline and hip for asymmetrical juxtaposition. Fabric gathered at the hip for added texture as well.

Halsey
Halsey brought a burst of color in her yellow Nicol & Ford dress to the red carpet. The “Without Me” singer’s sleeveless dress featured a halter neckline with sheer elements at the bodice, contrasted by intricate botanical designs. The silky dress flowed to the floor, with further floral embroidery featured at the dress hemline.
Halsey’s coordinated shoes were by Christian Louboutin. The singer’s blunt bob was styled by Marty Harper and look by stylist Lyn Alyson.
Dwayne Johnson
Johnson wore a powder blue and gray toned custom Prada suit. The actor’s ensemble featured a double-breasted blazer with sharp lapels and pockets at the waist. The blazer coordinated with “The Smashing Machine” star’s tailored trousers. Johnson paired his suited attire with black patent leather shoes. The actor was styled by Ilaria Urbinati.
Maria Borges
Maria Borges wore a halter neckline gown designed by Rami Kadi. The model’s black dress was embroidered with holographic sequin sheets, giving the dress a chain metal illusion look. Metal threads were also used in the design of the dress along with gold crystal stones, along with a muslin asymmetric draped skirt.
Benny Safdie
Benny Safdie opted for a classic tux. “The Smashing Machine” director wore a tailored look with a black bowtie and classic white collared shirt. He completed his attire with black patent leather shoes with silver buckle detailing.
“The Smashing Machine” follows the story of MMA and UFC fighter Mark Kerr. The film hits theaters Oct. 3.
The 82nd edition of the Venice Film Festival kicked off on Wednesday and concludes on Sept. 6. Highly anticipated films, including Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein,” “Jay Kelly,” starring George Clooney, and Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Bugonia,” will premiere.
