Sheer, metallic, optical illusion-style dressing, the wet dress look — Laverne Cox trends that have been ubiquitous on red carpets and added her own twist to them in a shimmering ensemble on Tuesday at the New York premiere of “The Apprentice” in New York.
The “Orange Is the New Black” star wore a liquid-like breastplate from Amplituda Design. The futuristic, strapless top featured chrome detailing on the chest, resembling the tips of fire or ice. The breastplate transitions to sheer under the bustline, with black, gold and silver streaks cascading down.
She paired the sculptural top with a silver, sequined skirt by David Koma. The asymmetrical miniskirt featured a side slit and draped detailing on one side. Cox, who styled herself, kept her accessories minimal, opting for vintage earrings and jewelry from Manfred Thierry Mugler. She completed the look with silver pointed-toe pumps.

These designs often incorporate fluid fabrics like ethereal silks and lightweight chiffons.
