Sheer dressing returned to the red carpet on Sunday night in Beverly Hills for the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, featuring stars like Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Lawrence, among others, styling the trend and taking sheer fabric to dramatic new heights.
Thanks to designs by Givenchy, Jean-Louis Scherrer and more, sheer dressing came in all forms — from allover translucent fabric, to sheer cape additions and varying degrees of see-through fabric. WWD breaks down those sheer styles and more ahead.
Jennifer Lopez
Lopez wore a vintage Jean-Louis Scherrer dress. The archival look hails from the designer’s haute couture 2003 collection, and featured a mermaid silhouette with a full tulle skirt, along with a long-sleeve and formfitting bodice with a high-neckline. The bodice of the dress contrasted ornate embroidery in shades of shimmering brown with sheer fabric. The “Kiss of the Spider Woman” star’s look was curated by styling team Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn.
